| The Deed Restrictions
of Jamaica Beach were drafted and filed over the past 43 years.
Available copies were in various states of legibility and many of the
copies located in old files of the JBIC were incomplete with sometimes
entire pages missing. By searching the community and soliciting the
help of residents legible copies of the restrictions were finally located
for each of the relevant sections of Jamaica Beach. The term
"relevant" is used since there are areas which do not fall under
the usual By-laws and/or Restrictions of the majority of Jamaica Beach,
these areas are known as "Reserve". Of the sections which
do belong to the organization known as, Jamaica Beach Improvement
Committee, it is known that there exist many variants from section to
section. These variations came about as each section was developed,
often by entirely different corporations or individuals, therefore most
sections have totally different Deed Restrictions. It has been a
formidable task to retype those restrictions. No changes were made
in the wording or requirements, they were retyped and numbered line by
line for legibility and easy identification when discussing or questioning
content of a pertinent section. The clear new copies of the
restrictions are now available below. ALTHOUGH THESE WERE CAREFULLY PROOFED, THEY HAVE BEEN RETYPED SO MAY NOT BE RELIED ON FOR ACCURACY. TO VIEW THE ORIGINALS, GO TO THE GALVESTON COUNTY DEED RECORDS.
